WHAT IS MARKETING ?


 Marketing is a social process in which individuals and groups obtain what they need & what through creating, offering & freely exchanging products & services of value with others.



WHAT IS MARKETING MANAGEMENT ?


INTRODUCTION:

It is a process in which we firstly going for planning then organising , directing & then directing the activities which results in exchange of goods and services.
or we can say that MARKETING MANAGEMENT is a process in which it CHOOSES A TARGET MARKET by FINALISING THE TARGET MARKET.



MARKETING MANAGEMENT PHILOSPHIES.


There are 5 types of MARKETING MANAGEMENT PHILOSPHIES:

> PRODUCTION CONCEPT :  Some companies believe that it is easy to sell products when they are expensive and easy to use. so firms always adopt this concept...but the main drawback is customers don't always buy products which are expensive and available.




> PRODUCT CONCEPT : Under this firms thinks that if they make products of superior quality so that they can attract their customers.but they must keep in ind that customers only purchase that products only when they want it or need it.





>SELLING COCNCEPT : Under this firms thinks that how they attract their customers by fully satsifying them because in marketing you should give full satisfaction to your customers so that your business will run in an efficient way you need to give some aggressive selling and promotional efforts.





>MARKETING CONCEPT : It concentrates on the on the need of the customers. According to this concept company must design and label products according to the needs of the consumers and try to satisfy better than your competitor.





>SOCIETAL CONCEPT : Although marketing concept is satisfying the needs of customers in the best possible manner but then also it has attracted criticism from people who are concerned about society and environment . They argue that companies should not follow the goal of customers satisfaction. This may lead to many social and environmental ills.



                                                                     THE MARKETING MIX:

The marketing mix refers to the ingredients or the tools marketer mixes in order to interact with a particular market

THERE ARE FOUR P IN THE MARKETING MIX NAMELY;

1.PRODUCTION
2.PRICE
3.PLACE/PHYSICAL DISTRIBUTION
4.PROMOTION


                                                                    MAIN COMPONENTS OF MARKETING:


> BRANDING:  One of the most decision that the marketer has to take in th area of a product is BRANDING is that he has to decide whether the firm's product will be marketer under BRAND NAME or GENERIC NAME . A BRAND is the identification of a product .It can be in the form of a name ,symbol or design etc.

                                          
                                                                   TERMS RELATED TO MARKETING:

1. BRAND : A brand is the identification of product it can be in the form of name , symbol or deign etc.

2. BRAND NAME : The part of brand which can be spoken is know as BRAND NAME.

3. TRADE MARK :  A part of brand which is legal protection is called TRADE MARK.

BRAND NAME be short and covenient to read for the consumers . It should be easy to pronounce. The BRAND NAME should be unique .



                                                                                        2. PACKAGING :

The companies always supply the product in the pack form . PACKAGING is the basic activity of every enterprise or for every company "A set of tasks or activities which are concerned with the designing ,product of an appropriate wrapper , container etc.  PACKAGING is the basic and main task for every business enterprise that how attractive they can PACKED their  products so that they can satisfy their consumers. They attract their consumers by launching new way of PACKAGING on their products so that they can interact their consumers to buy that particular product.


                                                                          LEVELS OF PACKAGING:
      


1. PRIMARY PACKAGING : It refers to the immediate packaging of product. It remains with product till it is used.

2. SECONDARY PACKAGING : There are additional packings which give more protection generally consumers thorw that when they start using the product .

3. TRANSPORTATION LEVEL : There are packagings used for storing the goods. Packaging gives protection of goods.


                                                          
                                                                                      3. LABELLING:


It means putting identification marks on the package . Label is the carrier of information . It provides information like - name of the product, name of manufacturer  ,  contents of products ,  expiry and manufacturing date , price , weight etc.
LABELLING is the main objective and play key role for every business enterprise because how well a firm LABEL there products give all informations properly regarding their products and design their products  so that they can interact their consumers by their effective LABELLING.


Apart firm details of products some statutory warnings which are essential for some products must be printed on label like : on TOBACCO , Liquor it is compulsory to mention that its consumption is injurious to health 


The labels help the customer to identify the product from the various types like : we can easily identify a CADBURY chocolate from the various chocolates kept in the shelf of a shop by the colour of its LABEL 


Attractive and colourful LABEL excite customer and induce him to buy the product . Specially in consumer goods attractive labels incrrease sales volume.




                                                                                    4. CHANNELS OF DISTRIBUTION :




CHANNEL OF DISTRIBUTION refers to the people or middlemen who help in distributing the goods . Goods are produced at one place and consumers are scattered all over the country so it is very difficult for the producers to distribute goods  to the place of consumption like  TEA is produced in DARJEELING , ASSAM but it is consumed all over the world . It is very difficult for producer to distribute tea all over the country so he takes the help of some middlemen so that it can be supplied to all the consumers.
                                                   

CHANNELS OF DISTRIBUTION are the firms and individuals who help in transferring the goods form place of manufacturing to place of consumption. The common type of channels of distribution are wholesaler & retailer .. It makes shopping easy for consumers & distribution simple of manufacturer.

Along with being economy of efforts middlemen also help in bringing efficiency in distribution by providing facilities like transportation , warehousing order processing etc.


CHANNEL OF DISTRIBUTION is the chain between MANUFACTURER , AGENT/ DISTRIBUTOR , WHOLESALER , RETAILER AND THEN FINAL CONSUMERS  but mostly chain that are using around the market forces of supply and demand is  between MANUFACTURER , WHOLESALER , RETAILER AND THEN FINAL CONSUMERS.



                                                                                              5. ADVERTISING:


It is a impersonal presentation where a standard or common messages regarding the merits prices and availability of products or services is given by the producer or marketer. ADVERTISING is the crucial element of every business enterprise or for every firm to build an effective goodwill or reputation in market. Every company wants to publish an effective advertising because they want to attract their customers...


The sponsor has to pay for advertising he has to bear a cost to communicate and advertiser. It creates a monologue and not a dialog. There is no face to face contact between customers and advertisers .It creates a monologue and not a dialog.

There is wide variety of media available for advertising for video , audio , visual audio etc . Under each category large variety is available . Advertising can reach a large market .As through various media of advertising there is benefit of mass reach. It is always felt that advertising increases the cost of product or service but advertising is considered economical as compared to other promotional  techniques because it reaches m,asses and if we calculate cost per customer it is very low .

Customer feel more assured about quality and feel more comfortable if sponsors claim these benefits in advertising.
